Backflow Testing & Prevention

Backflow Testing & Prevention in Weatherford

Protecting Parker County's Water with Certified Backflow Prevention

Clean water is something most of us take for granted until something goes wrong. As a property owner in Parker County, you carry an important responsibility to protect the quality of our shared water supply. Backflow is one of the most serious threats to that water. When pressure changes cause water to reverse direction, contaminants from your property can flow backward into the public drinking water system.

That's where backflow prevention comes in. Local regulations require specific devices to stop this reversal, and those devices need annual testing to keep working correctly.

At Chris' Plumbing, we provide complete backflow services for homes and businesses across Weatherford and Parker County. We handle installation, testing, repairs, and all the paperwork so you stay compliant, and your water stays safe.

What Causes Backflow?

Backflow occurs when water flows in the wrong direction through your pipes. Instead of moving from the city supply into your property, it reverses course and pushes contaminated water back into the public system.

Two main situations cause this problem:

  • Back-siphonage. When firefighters draw massive amounts of water from city mains or a water main break, it creates a vacuum effect. This vacuum can actually suck water from your property's plumbing system back into the public water lines.
  • Back-pressure. If your building's plumbing system develops higher pressure than the municipal supply (common with boilers, rooftop tanks, or pump systems), it can force water to flow in the wrong direction.

The consequences are serious. Irrigation systems can push fertilizers and pesticides into drinking water. Industrial equipment can introduce chemicals. Even residential systems with pools or heating equipment pose contamination risks. A backflow preventer acts as a one-way valve, blocking contaminated water from entering the public supply.
